what i'm smelling...

last night my super terrific parents took Tedd, Anne, and Me to dinner at High Cotton. it was the perfect way to celebrate graduation and good friends and family. everyone from the hostess to the guy who served our dessert was so great-and the food, well i'm still full! as an added surprise, my mom arranged for our table to have a special centerpiece of beautiful flowers. my good friend and wonderfully gifted designer extraordinaire, Joel arranged an absolutely fantabulous centerpiece that was the envy of everyone in the restaurant. and now i'm basking in the aroma of fresh flowers on my dining room table! i took a few pictures to test out my new camera, enjoy...

grad again...

this morning i graduated from my master's program! unfortunatley, it was raining but that didn't dampen our spirits too much! i am very glad to be finished and am excited to start my new job as a teacher- i hope i am up for the challenge. mom, daddy, and anne watched me walk across the stage and get my diploma and hood which is fitting since i owe much of my success to the three of them and their unconditional support and love. my friends and i got a few pictures in the rain before we parted for lunch.

julie, me, and shannon holding our diplomas- look out high school, here we come!

amanda, julie, me, shannon excited to be done

couldn't have made it through a few classes without amanda in the back row with me making fun of our classmates! (hatred of groupwork-"group hate" remains a strong bond)

wedding bells...

my sweet baby ferf got married last saturday. i have been meaning to post a few pictures but it has taken longer than expected to recover from all of the festivities. here are a few highlights...

the bridesmaids brunch at mom's house was a great way to hang out and celebrate with ferf

in the bride's room getting ready- buggie and maceyfacey are ready to hand out "the menus" as the two cutest greeters in the history of weddings (but i'm not biased!)

mom, daddy, and i are ready to party after watching the new couple's first dance

maceyfacey takes reggie on a spin around the dance floor- make no mistake, she was leading that dance!

ferf and michael finally cut into that yummy cake! shortly thereafter i had to take her veil off so she could really dance!ferf and michael leave on the back of a vintage bugati that was used in the movie leatherheads, filmed in greenville. they could be collecting george clooney's germs as they kiss!

today...

today was a sad day. isn't it poetic and yet so contradictory that we need sad things in life so that we recognize the joyful things but at the same time the sad things render the joyful things almost trivial in a sense?

i also wonder this- did this many sad things always happen, even when we were young, and we just weren't told about them by the grown-ups in charge, and now that we are the grown-ups in charge we are told about all of the sad things? or did this many sad things just start happening in the world? if the former, being a grown-up in charge sucks worse than i thought it did and if the later, why?

today has been a wandering and wondering day.

total bummer...

I started my second summer school class on monday and was overjoyed when the professor informed us that she would be conducting the class online and we would not have to be at Converse anymore. I thought this was a great idea and worked out perfectly for me so that I could do my school work whenever I wanted and could still hang out with the ferf this week as she prepares for her wedding. Everything was great until yesterday, when I checked my e-mail to find a message from my professor telling us that for some reason the administration was having problems with us not being in class so now we have to go to Converse everyday. RIDICULOUS. I am not a happy camper.

In other, happier news, the ferf and I had a fun day trip today. We went to Charlotte today mainly so I could get my hair cut, but also to do some shopping. We ate at one of my favorite restaurants, Just Fresh, and then hit South Park Mall. It was so fun to just have an unscheduled day to hang out together. Tomorrow the whole fam is going to the movies to see Harry, Ron, and Hermione fight the Evil Lord Voldemort. I can't wait!

less than two weeks...

for those of you playing along at home, my sister's wedding is now less than two weeks away. that is nuts! she is coming home on thursday and that is when the craziness will really begin! it is all quite exciting, but snuck up on me as i have been helping with planning a wedding that was always very far in the future. i guess the future really does start now!

in other news, i began my final class of grad school today. much to my delight, my professor announced that the class would be conducted on-line! yay for not having to drive forty minutes to and from school four days a week! happiness will be mine on july 28 when i will graduate!

also, it is raining now which is good because my fledgeling container garden (read two containers of plants on my front porch) need to be watered today.
