total bummer...

I started my second summer school class on monday and was overjoyed when the professor informed us that she would be conducting the class online and we would not have to be at Converse anymore. I thought this was a great idea and worked out perfectly for me so that I could do my school work whenever I wanted and could still hang out with the ferf this week as she prepares for her wedding. Everything was great until yesterday, when I checked my e-mail to find a message from my professor telling us that for some reason the administration was having problems with us not being in class so now we have to go to Converse everyday. RIDICULOUS. I am not a happy camper.

In other, happier news, the ferf and I had a fun day trip today. We went to Charlotte today mainly so I could get my hair cut, but also to do some shopping. We ate at one of my favorite restaurants, Just Fresh, and then hit South Park Mall. It was so fun to just have an unscheduled day to hang out together. Tomorrow the whole fam is going to the movies to see Harry, Ron, and Hermione fight the Evil Lord Voldemort. I can't wait!

less than two weeks...

for those of you playing along at home, my sister's wedding is now less than two weeks away. that is nuts! she is coming home on thursday and that is when the craziness will really begin! it is all quite exciting, but snuck up on me as i have been helping with planning a wedding that was always very far in the future. i guess the future really does start now!

in other news, i began my final class of grad school today. much to my delight, my professor announced that the class would be conducted on-line! yay for not having to drive forty minutes to and from school four days a week! happiness will be mine on july 28 when i will graduate!

also, it is raining now which is good because my fledgeling container garden (read two containers of plants on my front porch) need to be watered today.

summertime callin' me...

i am almost done with my penultimate class for my graduate program! i am so ready to be the teacher and not the student for a while. i will turn in my final paper and take the final exam on thursday. my very last class will begin on monday and then in three weeks, i will graduate!! even though summer school is not really my idea of a fun time, i have been able to enjoy my summer. i am helping with the children's ministries at church and hanging out with those crazy kiddos has been fun. MaceyFacey is dominating the pool in her first year on swimteam and it is always the highlight of my week when i can watch her swim in her meets!

i have also been busy trying to help mom and the ferf with wedding details. i can't believe july 21 is almost here. everyone has been working so hard and i know the wedding and the party after will be fantastic!

i am heading to a friend's farm to celebrate the nation's birthday tomorrow and then will spend the weekend relaxing at the lake with gayle and her family per our tradition. i can taste the s'mores already!

i am now a Greenville Tech Charter High School Warrior! i will get to teach English I starting in the fall. i am so excited to have a job, and not just any old job, but a job that i really wanted and will be happy to do. it will be fun to hang out with the freshmen and experience their first year of high school with them! if you want to learn more about my wonderful new place of employment, click the title of this post!

also, i am now finished student teaching- yay! it was a very educational experience, but it is really a hard thing to teach full time and go to school. i'm going to have to figure out how to better master that type of multi-tasking when i decide to go back for my next degree! as for now, i'm enjoying a few weeks of down time before summer jobs and summer school all begin.

wow! How did it get to be May so quickly? Sometimes I wish the spring wasn't so springy- don't you? While I am aware that I am the worst blogger in the history of blogs- I will defend myself by saying that not much of note has been happening around these parts, so I'm trying to save you the boredom of reading about nothing. Although Sinefield was about nothing and that seemed to do pretty well.... Regardless, it is the Cinco of Mayo and I have no plans to eat Mexican food tonight- more probably it will be pizza because it is raining, cold, and generally quite yucky outside and no food says warm and comfy better than a pizza.

On the school front, Wednesday will be my last day in the high school as a student teacher. I have mixed emotions about that- happy to have some time to concentrat on my own school work before I have to present my portfolio but sad to leave most of the students (no, not all of them.) I'm amazed at how quickly I became attached to these crazy kiddos- especially my little freshman class. I know I will be back at the school to check on them before they are out for the summer, but not being there all the time will be weird after these past few months. The job for next year question is still that- a question, but will hopefully be answered soon. Could happen this week or not until the summer. I do know after this whole thing that I'm going to like being a teacher- kids are pretty fun to be around and they keep me on my toes- which I need.

In other news, Winston and I have been discussing the possibility of getting another puppy in our family. Winston is quite wary of this and it will take some convincing, but he might be willing to share his house with a big dog that is not allowed on the furniture and especially his bed. This will be an ongoing conversation so don't expect any additions in the near future.

No other news to report- I told you I was boring. I'm ready for summer and a little excitement in my life- maybe I'll find a new hobby! I'm off to do a little bit of work before the Derby this evening. Riding high on my first ever victory in the derby picks last year, I took two horses for today- Nobiz like Shobiz and Any Given Saturday. I'm sticking to my gameplan of picking based solely on name and colors of the silks! I have fifty big ones (cents that is) riding on my picks so wish me luck!

my student teaching rock...

yes, I have been under the student teaching rock for the past two months and will be re-submerging again on Tuesday. However, this week is spring break so I'm taking abreak from lesson planning and test grading to actually be a real person! Teaching is great, I love most of my students and think so much of the wonderful teachers who are helping me everyday to become better.

At the beginning of the week, I took a short beach vacation with Anne and her girls, and one of my new teacher friends from school, Valerie. We loaded up the party van and headed down to Seabrook for a few days of needed sun and relaxing by the pool. It was great to be able to hear the ocean and breathe salty air for a few days. We stopped in Charleston before heading home and took some great pictures at the Battery- I'll post soon.

On Wednesday, Maceyfacey went with me to the spa to get our toes done. She proclaimed it was "the best spa day she had ever had" and we agreed to do it again soon! Maybe for Juniper and Michael's wedding.

Otherwise, I'm trying to keep a low profile this week and rest. I am doing some planning for our next unit at school- but not enough to activate the knot of tension that has been residing between my shoulders. After break I will start the job interviewing process which will hopefully end with me signing a teaching contract for the next school year and doing a giant happy dance to once again be gainfully employed!

time flies...

wow! what a crazy month i have had! traveling to florida twice to cheer on the deacsand to dallas once for a wonderful wedding, spending the week before Christmas working on wedding plans with mom and ferf, and starting a new term at school! almost everything seems bright, sparkly, and new. i am finally home for a while after all that travel- which i might add was not the smoothest air travel i've encountered, but i now have credit with both expedia and american airlines for my next destination!- and i'm glad to have time to hang out and relax some before i start student teaching in the spring. here are a few pictures from the past few weeks!
